With profound gratitude and humility, I’m introducing something that has been many years in the making: The Institute for Human Awareness™.

In the summer of 2011, my life changed.

While traveling with my wife, I experienced an acute panic attack so severe that I ended up in the hospital convinced that I was dying. I wasn’t.

But in many ways, that day marked the beginning of a very different life.

What followed was nearly a decade of intense anxiety and panic. Fear became a constant companion. There were times I would sit down in a restaurant, order dinner, and suddenly have to leave because the fear and disorientation became overwhelming. There were nights when my body would shake uncontrollably while my wife simply held me and tried to help me through it.

It affected my marriage, my relationships, my sense of safety, and eventually the way I understood myself.

And it forced me to begin searching.

At first, I was searching for relief.

Over time, that search became something much larger.

I began exploring psychology, meditation, yoga, breathwork, spirituality, consciousness, science, philosophy, ancient traditions, history, and the many ways human beings have tried to understand themselves and their place in the universe.

The more I explored, the more I realized how much I did not know.

And somewhere along that journey, fear slowly gave way to curiosity.

Curiosity became awareness.

And awareness began changing the way I experienced life.

That journey ultimately became the seed for The Institute for Human Awareness.

I am not launching the Institute because I believe I have found all the answers. Quite the opposite.

I am launching it because I have come to believe deeply in the value of asking better questions.

What does it mean to truly know ourselves?

How do our beliefs, fears, experiences, and perceptions shape the reality we experience?

What can science teach us about consciousness and the human mind?

What might philosophy, spirituality, history, ancient wisdom, nature, and lived experience add to that understanding?

And what happens when we become more aware—not only of ourselves, but of one another, humanity, nature, civilization, the cosmos, and the patterns that may connect them?

The Institute is intended to be a place for that exploration.

Not a religion.

Not an ideology.

Not a place that tells people what they should believe.

Rather, a place for thoughtful inquiry—where evidence, ideas, experience, history, science, spirituality, philosophy, and wonder can be brought into conversation with curiosity and humility.

Because I have come to believe something very simple:

Awareness changes how we see.

How we see changes how we respond.

How we respond changes how we live.

And how we live affects the people and world around us.

Today, the website is live, our first foundational publication—Volume I: The Beginning—is available in the Library, and the doors of the Institute are officially open.

This is very much a beginning. The Institute will continue to learn, explore, publish, listen, and evolve.

If any part of this journey resonates with you, I invite you to visit, explore, read, question, and—if you choose—become part of what we are building.

The journey begins with awareness.
